Fire bricks are used anywhere standard bricks are not suitable because of high heat exposure. Regular clay bricks are not designed to withstand the repeated heating and cooling cycles found in fireplaces, ovens and fireboxes. Fire bricks are made from selected fire clays with higher heat resistance, helping them perform in more demanding conditions. Important – First Use of Fire Bricks Fire bricks must be cured before being exposed to high temperatures. When using your fireplace, pizza oven, or fire pit for the first time: 1. Light a small fire and maintain a low temperature for 2– 3 hours. 2. Allow the fire bricks to cool completely. 3. Repeat with a slightly larger fire. 4. Gradually increase the heat over the next few uses. This curing process allows any residual moisture to escape slowly and helps prevent cracking, spalling, or damage to the fire bricks. Failure to properly cure fire bricks may result in premature cracking and is not considered a product fault.
